Welcome to David & Co. Tailor! David & Co. Tailor is a bespoke tailoring house, located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Here are the most common questions we receive.
What exactly is bespoke tailoring?
It means your garment is made entirely for you, from scratch. We start by understanding how you live, what you need the piece for, and what makes you feel good. Then we take your measurements, help you choose a fabric, and build everything around your body and your brief — not a standard template.
It's a different experience from buying off the rack, and honestly, once you've had something made this way, it's hard to go back.
What do you make?
Suits, jackets, trousers, and shirts are our core offerings. We also do alterations for garments made elsewhere, and we're currently developing a batik line for those who want something with a bit of Malaysian character. If you have something specific in mind, just ask — we're happy to have a conversation about it.
How much does it cost?
We'll always be upfront about pricing. As a general guide:
- Suits: from RM 1,350
- Jackets: from RM 1,100
- Trousers: from RM 300
- Cotton-blend shirts: RM 190
- Pure cotton shirts: RM 280
The final price depends on the fabric and the complexity of what you want. We'll give you a clear number before anything gets started.
How long does it take?
For suits and jackets, we typically work within a 4 to 6 week window from your first appointment to the final fitting. Shirts are faster — usually around two weeks.
If you have a specific date in mind, like a wedding or an event, let us know early and we'll plan around it.
What happens at the first appointment?
It's really just a conversation to begin with. We'll talk about what you're looking for, walk you through some fabric options, take your measurements, and discuss the details — lapel style, buttons, lining, anything that matters to you.
There's no pressure to decide everything on the spot. Some people know exactly what they want. Others prefer to take it step by step. Either way is fine with us.
We also have parking available if you let us know in advance.
Can you recreate something I've seen in a photo?
Yes, we can work from photos, magazine references, or anything you bring in. We'll adapt it to suit your body and your preferences — sometimes a small tweak makes all the difference.
I already have a suit. Can you alter it?
Absolutely. We do alterations on garments made elsewhere. Bring it in and we'll take a look and tell you honestly what's possible.
Do I need to come in for every new order?
Not necessarily. Once we have your measurements on file, you can come back for new pieces without going through the full fitting process again. A lot of our customers do this for shirts especially — it makes repeat orders simple.
Can I order if I'm based overseas?
If you're able to visit us in Kuala Lumpur, that's always the best way to start. The in-person fitting is where a lot of the important decisions happen, and honestly, it's a much better experience than trying to do it through a screen.
For existing customers whose measurements we already have on file, placing a repeat order from abroad is straightforward — we'll make the piece and ship it to you directly.
If you're new to us and can't make it to KL, feel free to reach out and we'll figure out the best way forward together.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we can arrange shipping for completed garments. Shipping fees are covered by the customer. As a rough guide:
- Singapore: approximately RM 50–200
- Australia: approximately RM 150–300
- Europe: approximately RM 250–800
Exact costs depend on the courier and the size of the order. We'll confirm everything clearly before anything gets sent.
What if my body changes over time?
For all suits we make, we offer lifetime alteration services. Bodies change. Life changes. We'd rather keep your suit working for you than see it sitting in a wardrobe.
Do you make garments for special occasions?
Yes — weddings, dinners, graduations, family events. We've dressed a lot of people for moments that matter to them, and we take that seriously.
Are you connected to other tailors with a similar name?
No. David & Co. Tailor in Kuala Lumpur is an independent family business. We're not affiliated with any other tailors locally or abroad.
How do I get started?
